My integrative philosophy is based on thirty years of experience as both a traditional and holistic health care professional. I began my journey as a registered nurse working in various hospital settings including cardiology, health education, weight management, smoking cessation, preventive health care, corporate health, customer relations training for hospital executives, holistic health education, and PEER (Primary Emotional Energy Recovery) counseling. My psychotherapeutic experience includes private practice as well as providing counseling at the Elizabeth Family Medicine practice of Carolinas Healthcare System; providing trauma informed therapy for individuals and families in crisis using Trauma-Focused CBT at Safe Alliance; facilitating groups for foster care children, and working with the Adult Protective Services Unit at the Department of Social Services. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Nutrition and Certificate in Worksite Wellness from New York University (NYU), certification in Holistic Nursing from the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a Specialization in Creative Expression from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University). As an integrative psychotherapist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and holistic registered nurse, I believe in a transpersonal approach that says we are whole beings with physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and social needs, which are all important to the healing process. I help individuals, couples, and families deal with everything from trauma and crisis to chronic illness, from anxiety and depression to navigating life’s transitions. My approach is experiential, person-centered and depth-oriented, combining traditional family systems theory with Internal Family Systems and creative expression techniques such as SoulCollage®, poetry therapy, and creative writing. As important as it is to talk about our stressors, it is equally important to access and experience our own inner wisdom in a safe place with a trusted guide. Our sessions can be that place to explore and find meaning in what you are experiencing.
